1863 - Union forces, hoping to flush out Confederate sympathizers, have created a makeshift prison in downtown Kansas City. Being held are the wives, daughters and sisters of anyone thought to be associated with the Rebel cause. As the only child of a Confederate doctor, Annie Logan finds herself held in that hellish Kansas City jail.
After the jail mysteriously collapses, Annie is "rescued" by two Union spies on their way home to Lawrence, Kansas. Thus begins a week that will forever change Annie’s life as she takes a front row seat to the searing events that altered the history and politics of the Midwest.
A mad man by the name of William Quantrill has gathered a force of Confederate sympathizers and is heading toward Lawrence with the single-minded purpose of leveling the town. In the meantime, one of her rescuers must investigate a series of murders within Lawrence city limits.
Eight Days in August introduces the characters of Annie Logan and Jack Harrington to real life events, all of which took place over the course of eight dramatic, bloody, and heroic days. In that short time they must learn if they can go from sworn enemies to allies, and if they are brave enough to trust one another when the stakes are life and death.
